Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer speaks at a news conference at the team’s training facility in Eden Prairie on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014. The Vikings announced Monday that running back Adrian Peterson will return to practice this week and play in Sunday’s game at New Orleans despite having been indicted last week in Texas on a charge of reckless or negligent injury to a child.

We’re entering the third season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won the 2015-2016 season, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

Minnesota Vikings plus-2.5 at Cincinnati Bengals: $440 to win $400

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer seems like a dude who really cares about winning in the preseason. Throw in a return to Cincinnati, where Zimmer was the defensive coordinator from 2008-13, and I think we’re going to see a lot more effort from the visitors.

Zimmer is 8-1 straight up and 7-2 ATS over his first two preseasons as Minnesota’s coach. I think the Vikings are going to bomb this year, largely because I don’t think that quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is all that good, but in the preseason, I expect them to build up the hype even more.

Current Standings: Brewer (6-5, $10,795), Keefer (5-4, $10,120), Bern (3-6, $9,170)

Taylor Bern can be reached at 948-7844 or [email protected]. Follow Taylor on Twitter at twitter.com/taylorbern.
