Vegas Play of the Day: Cowboys at Rams

Rams

Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks Case Keenum and Jared Goff talk during NFL practice Wednesday, June 1, 2016, in Oxnard, Calif.

We’ve entered the third season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won the 2015-2016 season, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

Los Angeles Rams minus-5 vs. Dallas Cowboys: $550 to win $500: I hate laying such a big number in an exhibition game because these are mostly meaningless exhibitions. However, this game is far from meaningless. The Rams are returning “home” to Los Angeles for the franchise’s first game in the area since leaving for St. Louis more than 20 years ago.

It’s a nationally televised, primetime game. The team soldout season tickets in six hours. The stadium will be packed and vocal from start to finish. Advantage, Rams.

Tony Romo is coming off an injury and has been limited in training camp. He may not play. Backup quarterback Kellen Moore suffered a season-ending injury. That means the Dallas offense will struggle moving the ball.

Los Angeles should be able to put up some points. Case Keenum will play 15 snaps as the starter and No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff will play through the third quarter. Advantage, Rams.

Current Standings: Brewer (6-5, $10,795), Keefer (5-4, $10,120), Bern (4-6, $9,570)
