Vegas Play of the Day: Kansas City Royals at Miami Marlins

We’re entering the third season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won the 2015-2016 season, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

Kansas City Royals plus-112 at Miami Marlins: $450 to win $504

Before losing Wednesday’s game in Miami, the Royals had won nine straight and 14 out of 16. While starting pitcher Edinson Volquez doesn’t inspire much confidence with his 7.17 ERA in the month of August, I think Kansas City bounces back and continues the hot streak tonight.

Despite Volquez’s struggles, Kansas City has won both of his last two starts, though admittedly both were against the Minnesota Twins. The Royals’ offense has fallen off, producing just three runs in the last three games, but I’m betting that that doesn’t last through the night.

Current Standings: Keefer (8-5, $10,840), Brewer (7-8, $9,365), Bern (4-7, $9,150)

Taylor Bern can be reached at 702-948-7844 or [email protected]. Follow Taylor on Twitter at twitter.com/taylorbern.
