Vegas Play of the Day: Rays at Royals

Kansas City Royals minus-115 vs. Tampa Bay Rays: $460 to win $400: The defending World Series champion Royals are starting to play like a team determined to make another deep playoff run. The Royals swept the Chicago White Sox over to the weekend to move into the first place of the American League Central for the first time this season.

They trailed in each game against the White Sox before rallying to win, showing Kansas City players are very-much engaged on the current season. Often, in the year after winning a championship, teams simply go through the motions and have a hangover from the past successes. Not the Royals.

Kansas City is also a solid bet today because it is the home team. And it’s more than the great home fans at the Royals’ Kauffman Stadium. Tampa Bay played at home yesterday in Florida and had to travel afterward to the midwest. The home team always has the advantage over a team starting a road trip — regardless of who is pitching or which team is on a winning streak. The fact Kansas City is playing its best baseball in the initial two months of the season is a bonus.
