Vegas Play of the Day: Dodgers at Tigers

Kershaw

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw celebrates striking out Washington Nationals’ Wilmer Difo for the final out of Game 5 of a baseball National League Division Series, at Nationals Park early Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, in Washington. The Dodgers won 4-3.

We’ve entered the fourth season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won back-to-back titles in the 2015-2016 and 2016-17 seasons, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

Los Angeles Dodgers minus-210 at Detroit Tigers: $900 to win $428

I normally try to stay away from favorites of 200 or more, but this is a rare case of the coldest team in the league in the Tigers playing a historically hot team in the Dodgers.

The Tigers enter this afternoon’s contest having lost 10 of their last 12 games, including a three-game sweep at the hands of the Minnesota Twins where they allowed 28 runs.

The Dodgers’ winning ways have been well documented. They’re 19-3 over their last 22 games and I don’t expect that to change tonight. It’ll be Rich Hill on the mound for Los Angeles and while he did lose his last start, he won the six starts prior to that and gave up only eight earned runs during that stretch.

Picking the Dodgers isn’t exactly going out on a limb, but under these circumstances minus-210 is still a decent value in my opinion.

Current Standings: Granger (4-5, $11,217), Keefer (5-3-1, $10,765), Grimala (2-1, $10,595), Brewer (5-5, $9,140)
