LAS VEGAS, NV – Natalie Vaughn, Clark H.S. Junior designed a program that recycles un-used medical supplies destined for the land-fill back into the community introducing Medical Supply Recovery (MSR). Medical Supply Recovery (MSR) is a non-profit organization that will use local healthcare organizations’ un-used inventory of medical supplies as a resource to provide local free clinics in the Las Vegas market with needed material. A large amount of usable medical supplies are disposed due to the necessary influx of new supplies which ensures that hospitals and large outpatient organizations will not run out of critical supplies while appropriately managing rotation of inventory. Simultaneously community clinics have experienced funding cuts that have placed more stress on acquiring needed supplies more than ever. MSR provides a unique solution to this problem by gathering and distributing needed medical supplies at no charge to community clinics while simultaneously reusing medical materials that would otherwise be discarded.

In order to prevent the waste of materials that would not be recyclable if disposed of, MSR will take medical supplies that would otherwise be thrown out by hospitals and reutilize said supplies by giving them to local community clinics which benefit those who otherwise would have difficulty affording health treatment. This benefits the community by reducing waste and aiding those who offer services to those with needs. First Person Care Clinic located at 1200 S. 4th Street – Suite 111, a 501c3 nonprofit, is such an organization that will benefit from MSR’s outreach. First Person provides Primary care to pediatrics-geriatrics in the community utilizing a sliding income based scales for services.

“Supplies are a constant need and resources are low. MSR has provided an invaluable service to the clinic and the community,” states Cesar Agreda, First Person Marketing Director and Community Liaison.

This Saturday at 2:00pm MSR will collect medical resources, manage an inventory of these resources, and distribute them as needed to community clinics in Las Vegas. MSR will initially pilot the program with Valley Healthcare System Hospitals in Las Vegas and attached outpatient clinics as the pilot donors of supplies and local clinics: First Person Care Clinic, Positively Kids, and Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada with the volunteer support of United Way of Southern Nevada at First Person Care Clinic located at 1200 S fourth Street, Suite 111 Las Vegas, NV 89104, PHONE (702) 380-8818, FAX (702) 380-2929.
