Youth mentorship programs win big at Silverton Casino

Published on Fri, Aug 1, 2014 (9:16 a.m.)

LAS VEGAS – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada (BBBSN) and Silverton Casino are excited to launch their new partnership for the Win Big, Give a Little campaign to raise funds for youth mentorship programs. The campaign launches with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Aug.1, at 10 a.m., at 3333 Blue Diamond Rd. Silverton Casino will place multiple BBBSN designated drop boxes throughout the casino floor to collect left over, unclaimed and unwanted slot vouchers. Every voucher submitted by casino guests will be donated directly to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada to expand youth mentoring programs.

“We are thrilled about our new partnership with Silverton Casino. Many people bring their slot vouchers home and end up tossing them in the trash. Every penny counts and the donations add up,” said Molly Latham, executive director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada. “Our goal is to expand our programs and outreach efforts with these funds.”

The Win Big, Give a Little campaign is the first of its kind, benefiting the hundreds of youth that Big Brothers Big Sisters serves throughout Clark County. There is no end date to the campaign. Guests can drop their unwanted slot vouchers of any amount into the designated Big Brothers Big Sisters drop boxes beginning Aug 1.

“What a great opportunity we have to work with Silverton Casino. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada is going to be able to help even more "Littles" now from this simple promotion,” said Heidi Cook, creator of the Win Big, Give a Little campaign and board member for BBBSN. “Now these tickets that would normally not be redeemed are more valuable than ever!"
