Actors Repertory plans ‘My Fair Lady’

"My Fair Lady" opens Saturday and plays for three weekends.

Adapted from Bernard Shaw's 1913 comedy "Pygmalion," the Alan Jay Lerner-Frederick Loewe musical ran continuously on Broadway for more than six years. It is the story of a guttersnipe who is turned into a lady by a haughty phonetics professor, just to win a bet.

The play achieved unprecedented popularity for any stage production of the mid-20th century.

Ray Favero and Georgia Neu will star as the aristocratic speech professor and the dingy flower girl he takes under his wing. Don MacPherson will direct and stage the show, with musical direction by John Ogden, both of whom were responsible for ART's last year success "Man of La Mancha."

"My Fair Lady" will run March 8-9, 13-16 and 20-23. Tickets for Thursday evenings and Sunday matinees are $20, $15 for seniors and students. Friday and Saturday evenings are $25, $20 for seniors and students. This Friday's preview performance is $15, $12.50 for seniors and students.
