The Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce is kicking off a fund-raising campaign to get $500,000 to support several expanded programs and assist its move to a new building.
"Traditional dues can no longer be the only means of income for today's chambers of commerce," said Chamber Chairman Diane Dickerson Merica.
"Especially in Las Vegas, the chamber must keep pace with and anticipate our incredible growth, and to do that, we must have the finances in place."
The campaign, which is called "On Our Way to 500K," involves 250 volunteers. Among its efforts, these volunteers will in a 10-week period be out in the community trying to sign up new members, getting businesses to advertise in chamber publications and broadcast programs, and seeking event sponsorships.
