line SUN STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS

The mother of a 19-year-old college freshman who died from injuries suffered in the San Antonio Golden Gloves regional tournament says she doesn't regret letting her son get into the ring.

Dylan Baker was pronounced dead at 10 p.m. Saturday, one day after he was hurt. A preliminary cause of death was a closed head injury, officials at University Hospital said Sunday. An autopsy was pending.

"It was just an accident," Karen Baker told the San Antonio Express-News in today's editions. "We supported him because (boxing) made him so happy. He really loved it."

Baker was an honors graduate of Round Rock High School and a student at Southwestern University in Georgetown, his mother said.
