Sen. Harry Reid has named M. Connie Barker to his top Southern Nevada post.
"Connie has exceptional managerial skills and is a native Nevadan who understands the challenges facing our communities," Reid, D-Nev., said Wednesday in announcing the appointment.
Barker, 49, will be Reid's Southern Nevada regional manager, replacing Paul Henry, who is now chairman of the state Democratic Party.
The regional manager coordinates Reid's schedule when he is in Southern Nevada, oversees outreach services with constituents, and spearheads Reid's initiatives on the local level.
From 1980-85, Barker was an administrator and senior training specialist for former Nevada Test Site contractor Reynolds Electrical & Engineering Co. in Las Vegas. Barker then worked for Parsons Brinckerhoff as a quality assurance technical specialist. Most recently, Barker worked as an associate administrator for child care assistance at the Economic Opportunity Board of Clark County.
Reid's Las Vegas office is located at 300 Las Vegas Boulevard South.
