Comedian Sinbad will host the ShoWest Awards, airing live for the first time ever at 7 tonight on TNT, cable Channel 18.
On the heels of the Academy Awards later this month, the ShoWest awards also honors the efforts of motion picture actors, directors, producers and screenwriters.
Winona Ryder, star of "The Crucible" and "Little Women," will receive the Actress of the Year award, and former NFL Raiders defensive end-turned-actor Howie Long ("Broken Arrow") will be named New Star of Tomorrow.
Albert Brooks and Monica Johnson will take home Screenwriter of the Year honors for the comedy "Mother."
In an new twist, each ShoWest winner will be presented their award by another celebrity who is an associate or personal friend.
The awards show wraps-up the annual ShoWest convention at Bally's hotel-casino. The four-day event attracted industry magnates from around the world.
