Letter: Reform state policy toward children

My other question is why do we allow just anybody to have children? Why do we allow people that are obviously abusive and irresponsible to have children? What about a child's right to be safe, protected and loved? Not only do we allow abusive people to have children, but more often than not, after having them and abusing them, the courts give the children back to the abusive parent(s) staring they want to preserve the biological structure of the family. How many times do we hear of these children being killed or brutally abused again by the abusive parent(s)? When will be become angry enough as a society to demand that the courts define, protect and preserve the rights of children? If we didn't allow monsters to have children, then maybe we wouldn't need state institutions to house children. How do we police people having children? Easy, if you have deliberately abused your child then you don't get to have more. Also, your parental rights are revoked and your ex-children are then placed with people that truly want children and will take care of, nurture and love them.

Why doesn't our state budget accommodate foster parents by paying them at least enough to take care of a child's needs? We should never cut anything that severs the needs of our children?
