Miller testifies in Senate

SUN STAFF REPORTS

Gov. Bob Miller is in Washington, D.C., testifying at hearings on the federal budget being conducted by the Joint Budget Committee.

Medicaid and highway funding are two areas that Miller's testimony specifically covers. As chairman of the National Governor's Association, Miller testified Tuesday before the Senate Finance Committee. He urged senators to support a Medicaid funding policy that is fair to states such as Nevada with rapidly growing populations.

He also spoke to the importance of a policy that maintains effective health insurance for elderly, disabled, and disadvantaged citizens.

Also while in Washington, Miller received a "National Leadership in Arts" award from Americans for the Arts, in recognition of his support of the arts in Nevada.
