Where You Stand for March 12, 1997

With all the talk about water and congestion, traffic, etc., etc., why don't they start building houses on larger plots instead of having 10 feet between buildings? Charge the people for it, build a bigger plot of ground, this way the contractors will get their money, everybody will be happy and we won't be overloading and taxing the schools, the roads, etc.

Stop abusing kids

I'm shocked at the laws of Nevada. I just read the article on the 9-year-old boy who was arrested for writing his name in cement. He was arrested without his mother knowing about this and subjected to a strip search. What kind of laws does this state have? It's ridiculous. The child is a minor. He doesn't know what's going on. Something needs to be done about this.

Contractor asked for it

I wish to comment on this Jeremy Anderson. This 9-year-old kid was arrested in school for writing in name in wet cement. What I would like to say is I'm from Rochester, N.Y., originally, and when they lay wet cement -- like 300 feet of wet cement -- they cover it with boards so that young kids or anybody else don't think they're on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The builder is negligent. He didn't cover his wet cement with boards. This is what caused the trouble.
