School Board completes 1997-98 zoning changes

The Clark County School Board has completed the 1997-98 school year zoning changes.

The board completed the long process Thursday night by setting attendance boundaries for the remaining middle schools.

Some sixth- through eighth-grade students now zoned for West Middle School will be reassigned to Swainston and O'Callaghan middle schools.

Some students who attend the Prime Six schools will also be rezoned. The Prime 6 option school for some kindergarten through fifth-grade students attending Booker and McCall elementary schools will be Fitzgerald Elementary School.

The Prime 6 option school for some first- through fifth-grade students who live in the Gilbert preference area will be Booker.

Some students who attend Lied Middle School will be reassigned to O'Callaghan, Fremont and Knudsen middle schools, and a portion of students who attend Keller Middle School will attend Swainston and Brinley middle schools in the fall.

Because West Middle School will only house sixth- and seventh-grade students in the fall, eighth-grade students living in that attendance zone will remain at the schools they were zoned for in the 1996-97 school year.

For specific boundaries and new school assignments, parents are asked to call the school district's zoning office at 799-7571.
