Letter: SUN columnists in touch with the pulse of Las Vegas

In the same paper, on page 2B, Michael Naylor of the Clark County Health District (apparently unwittedly) came up with a way to throttle this unbridled growth: "... future building projects could be held up in Southern Nevada unless it moves forward in meeting the federal air quality standards."

Many of us would willingly pay more taxes directly for road construction as a substitute for federal money earmarked for road construction -- in lieu of the unrealistic proposals for smog and dust control. Always, they want to make it more difficult and expensive for the general public while, at the same time, ignoring those who do not register locally (or do register as exempt).

Can you imagine the general public willingly paying $5 per car to DMV to fix the bad smokers, as Naylor is suggesting?
