Career Day planned for black youths

The program is designed to help local black students acquire a first-hand observation into the business world. The students will have the opportunity to spend the day with professionals chosen from their fields of interest.

Organizers are calling it a great way to assist students in understanding the various business occupations available through education.

Career Day will start with a breakfast at the Community College of Southern Nevada, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave., at 7:15 a.m., followed by a short program. Students will then meet their business sponsors for the day.

Students are encouraged to write an essay about their Career Day experience. Scholarship recipients will be chosen from the students who submit essays. The scholarships will be presented at a luncheon May 24 at CCSN, All Career Day participants will be invited back as guests.

Businesses interested in sponsoring a student or students can call Ruby Amie Pilot, 648-8530; Patricia Feaster, 642-9185; or Kathy Fox, 647-9797.
