The Clark County Building Department has derailed New York-New York's "Manhattan Express" roller coaster until dozens of tension rods are repaired.
Inspectors said there were no immediate safety threats, but were concerned about long-term effects on the structural integrity of the support columns.
"Our primary concern is for the safety of our residents and visitors," said Ron Lynn, assistant director of the Building Department. "We want to take a pro-active approach in ensuring that this popular ride is 100 percent in compliance with our codes."
New York-New York failed to report the problems, inspectors said, and attempted to do unauthorized repairs that also failed code.
Hotel representatives are working with county inspectors to make sure the repairs are done.
