County approves plan despite concerns by Caesars

Caesars officials say they support the plan, but are reluctant to sign a contract for their $3 million share until they're confident the county will approve their expansion plans.

The county has conditioned approval of renovation of the resort's facade and the addition of a 708-room tower on the resort donating a frontage road west of its property and air space above it.

Caesars has agreed to give up the land and the air space on the condition it have final say on its use.

Caesars officials are concerned the county will transfer air rights to Mirage Resorts Inc. for a people mover that would run between the Mirage and the company's new Bellagio resort without stopping at Caesars.

The pedestrian tunnel is planned at the corner of the Strip and Flamingo Road.
