Letter: Auto pollution program another local boondoggle

Who will take care of newer vehicles as they begin to age and develop emission problems?

Mike Naylor states most autos can be brought up to standard for about $400. Who will determine this? Who will control the money? How poor do you have to be? How low does your income have to be? How do these poor people pay for insurance and registration? What about those of us who live on fixed incomes, have medical problems and must see our doctors several times a month? What of us on limited incomes who manage our money to keep our vehicles properly maintained to meet the smog control? If we can do it, so can others.

If Mr. Naylor needs a manager of the new agency he proposes, I would like to be first to apply. I could use the extra money.

I have a better solution: Collect $10 and fix every vehicle. That way, there would be no discrimination.

How many of the vehicles encountered in this area are registered in Nevada?
