Letter: CAI fighting state rule to limit condo board power

He did not own up to the fact that he is an attorney and president of Community Associations Institute.

True CAI does provide all that Johnson mentioned. However, there are "big" charges for these provisions and in lieu of the many lawsuits filed by numerous condo owners, doesn't it seem these provisions do not help the owners? Perhaps the intent is to only aid the boards of directors who dictate to the owners as well as help for those who pay in excess of $250 to become a CAI member.

Does Attorney Johnson recall that he blatantly stated on local TV news that CAI intends to fight Sen. Mike Schneider's "association" bill that is to be presented to the state Legislature.

Is Johnson aware that although CAI "demands" that all mediations, arbitrations and their other "provisions" all be sponsored solely by CAI, UNLV has many very qualified people to perform these functions sans any CAI connection?

David Johnson truly made my day taking exception to my letter. He has now opened the door to many who have been affected by CAI operations.

Admittedly, an opportunity to earn extra $$, disregarding the plight of condo owners would sound tempting as well as to those willing to pay CAI $150 for each training class to become a mediator or arbitrator besides charges for what they provide, I feel I must now ask: Isn't the Nevada CAI chapter supposed to be "nonprofit"?
