Station Casino cuts 325 jobs

Joe Keenan, a spokesman for Station Casinos Inc.'s Midwest operations, said the layoffs were across the board, including dealers, food and beverage workers and valets.

"As a large, newly opened facility, we continue to assess our operations," Jay Sevigny, president of Station Casinos' Midwest operations, said in a statement. "A close review of the operation revealed that there was overstaffing."

Thursday's layoffs were the third reductions since the casino opened Jan. 16. Station officials announced the layoff of 189 workers March 3, just three weeks after cutting 162 employees.

In all, the work force has been cut by 974 workers through the layoffs and attrition.

Casino officials also said David Fendrick, the company's vice president and general manager, resigned and has been replaced by John Finamore, the former vice president of operations at Palace Station Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
