Woman who fled to Nevada ordered to stay away from her kids

A Hartford Superior Court judge issued a restraining order this week, forbidding Wiegand from communicating with her sons in any way, including by telephone, mail or electronic mail.

Wiegand, a former Simsbury and Granby resident, also is prohibited from attending any school function or sporting event involving the boys, and cannot come within 2,000 feet of her former husband's Suffield home where the boys, 8 and 11, reside.

Gritz and his son face attempted kidnapping charges in an alleged plot to abduct the boys last spring. They have asked for a jury trial.

Wiegand was cited for contempt of court for failing to pay alimony and child support. She was arrested after fleeing to Nevada with the children, in violation of a court order giving custody to her former husband. She was served with the restraining order Tuesday.

Wiegand's next court appearance is March 26. She has been held on $30,000 bond in Niantic women's prison since December.
