SUN Racing roars to life on website

In an effort to provide fans with the most comprehensive motor sports coverage in Las Vegas, the SUN has gone online with its own racing site on The Worldwide Web.

SUN Racing will offer up-to-the-minute news from Las Vegas Motor Speedway, including race weekend practice speeds, qualifying times and race results.

Following the race, the site will feature comprehensive event coverage, including photographs by the SUN's award-winning photo department that can be downloaded by personal computer users.

A special Las Vegas Motor Speedway link lists schedules for the facility's 1.5-mile superspeedway, dirt and short paved ovals and drag strip. Race fans also will be able to take a panoramic, 360-degree look at the superspeedway through Quick Time photography.

A link to the extensive SUN Racing archives will enable the PC user to catch up on past races and news from the world of motor sports as well as view and download photos from various Las Vegas Motor Speedway events, including the Indy Racing League, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, World of Outlaws and NASCAR Busch Series.

The site also includes a link to Go Racing, a national motor sports service listing results, schedules, standings, news and commentary for virtually every major auto racing series, including NASCAR, Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART), Formula One and the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA).

There also are links for race fans to e-mail comments and/or suggestions and to interact with the SUN Racing staff, including SUN motor sports editor Ron Kantowski.

SUN RACING keeps race fans up to speed via the Internet. It can be accessed at http://www.lasvegassun.com/sun/dossier/sports/racing/
