Women’s history event set for WLV

* Claytee White, oral historian, will discuss "The African American Migration From the Small Towns in the South to Las Vegas" at 1 p.m. in the conference room.

* Pat McCarty, archivist at UNLV, will discuss preserving the past and what to do with old books and photos at a workshop 2:15 to 5 p.m.

There is no charge but reservations are required. Call 647-8169.

The program is co-sponsored by the West Las Vegas Library in honor of Women's History Month.

The Nevada Women's History Project also will sponsor a Nevada History Day Competition for middle and high school students April 19.

Papers, performances or exhibits relating to the theme "Triumph and Tragedy in History" will be judged. The best will represent Nevada at the National History Day activities in Washington, D.C.
