Police seek pair after shooting of drug dealer

Two masked gunmen remained at large today after killing a man outside a West Las Vegas apartment complex.

The victim, whom police identified as a 35-year-old Las Vegas man, was shot multiple times while fleeing with his girlfriend from 510 E. McWilliams Ave., near E Street and Interstate 15.

Authorities have withheld his name until his relatives are notified.

The killers had entered an unlocked back door of one of the apartments about 9 p.m. Sunday looking for a drug dealer who was visiting the residence, said Metro Police homicide Lt. Wayne Petersen.

"One of the suspects got into a scuffle with the drug dealer, but the drug dealer got away," Petersen said.

The victim, who was also in the residence, ran out the back door and was shot seconds later. His girlfriend was not injured, authorities said.

Police spent the evening interviewing witnesses and combing the area for clues but had yet to determine a motive for the killing or if a drug deal was involved.

Witnesses told police the gunmen were two black males dressed in black and wearing ski masks.

Anyone with information on the homicide is asked to call Metro Police at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
