Sincere congratulations to Dennis Smith, who had the thrill of recording his first hole in one while playing the Las Vegas Country Club.

Wielding a 4-iron on the challenging sand- and water-guarded 176-yard, par-3, third hole, Smith's ball covered the pin all the way, hit about seven feet in front of the hole and slowly rolled in.

Format for a 2-man pro-pro played recently at the Desert Willow, par-60 executive course was six holes scramble, six holes best-ball and six holes alternate shot.

Chase Whitaker (Desert Inn) and Ken Wright (Canyon Gate) won the event over the pairing of Matt Robins (LV Hilton) and unattached Ron Faria. Tying for third place in the well-attended tournament were Painted Desert's Mike Starke and Brian Anderson along with Andy Deiro and Rob Huff of Angel Park.

Low best-ball honors went to the Whitaker/Wright pairing with low alternate shot winners being Robins and Faria.
