Laurie Janine Smallwood was arrested and charged Tuesday with felony soliciting prostitution/AIDS.
Smallwood was arrested in September and tested positive for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Police informed her that any further arrests for soliciting prostitution would be upgraded from misdemeanors to felonies.
There are currently 232 known HIV-positive prostitutes in Metro's jurisdiction.
Smallwood's arrest on the charge is the second this year.
