School district obtains restraining order on student’s father

The man, who has not been identified, allegedly made the threats after he found out his daughter failed the Nevada High School Proficiency Exam and would not be allowed to participate in Friday's graduation ceremonies.

"The guy was upset because his daughter wasn't going to graduate and he lost his temper," District Superintendent Marcia Bandera told the Elko Daily Free Press.

Doris Arnold, an aide to state superintendent Mary Petersen, said she tried to explain to the man how the testing system works.

Arnold said the man said something to the effect of, "My daughter will walk through graduation ceremonies even if I have to take a gun and march her across the platform."
