Robert D. Finley

Robert D. Finley, 66, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 6, 1933, in Ramsey, Ill. A resident for four years, he was a retired machine operator and Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Sandy McPherson of Chandler, Ariz., and Terry Finley of Las Vegas; four brothers, James Finley and Dan Finley, both of Springfield, Ill., Curt Finley of Ramsey, and Gerald Finley of Altamont, Ill.; one sister, Shirley Hobson of Loves Park, Ill.; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-5 p.m. today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Harry M. Gordon

Harry M. Gordon, 91, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 22, 1908, in Rockford, Ill. A resident for three years, he was a retired owner-operator of a wholesale food products company and a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Esther; two sons, Stanton Gordon of Arlington Heights, Ill., and James Gordon of Las Vegas; one daughter, Susan Arcus of Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, David Gordon of Rockford, Ill.; one sister, Josephine Burstein of Elgin, Ill.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were noon today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial followed in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

The family suggests contributions to the donor's favorite charity.

George R. Harkess

George R. Harkess, 85, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born June 10, 1914, in Horden, England. A resident for 50 years, he was a retired bakery shop owner-operator who started Gail's Bakery on Charleston Boulevard in 1954 and owned it until 1960 (the bakery originally started on Fremont Street in 1950).

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two sons, George R. Harkess III of Las Vegas and Brian L. Harkess of Seattle; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Chapel, Main. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

The family suggests donations to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119.

James Richard Hennessey

James Richard Hennessey, 71, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 13, 1928, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired hotel-casino operating engineer, a Navy veteran and a member of Operating Engineers Union Local 501.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa; three daughters, Donna Santucci of Maspeth, N.Y., Noreen Gardner of New York City and Diane Healy of Westville, N.J.; one son, Kenneth Hennessey of Maspeth; one sister, Maureen Kennedy of New York City; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Inga E. Jay

Inga E. Jay, 83, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospice. She was born Aug. 1, 1917, in Seattle. A resident for 1 1/2 years, she was a retired junior high school teacher and had attended Washington State University.

She is survived by one daughter, Robbin Magnuson of Geneva, Ill.; two sons, Richard E. Jay of San Jose, Calif.; one sister, Alicia Georgiade of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and one greet-grandchild.

Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling private arrangements.

Thomas Earl Lovelace

Thomas Earl Lovelace, 59, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 29, 1940, in Detroit. A resident for 13 years, he was a Clark County District Attorney's office investigator for 10 years and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn; three daughters, Laura Schlitz of Highland, Mich., Kelly Seagram of Detroit and Angelia Lovelace of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; his mother, Kathleen Lovelace, and one sister, Patricia Wojie, both of Columbus, Ind.; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, 1325 E. Harmon Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119.

Clifford Mead

Clifford Mead, 73, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 22, 1925, in New York. A resident for many years, he was a heavy equipment operator.

He is survived by one daughter, Penny Roberts of Las Vegas.

Burial will be in Warner, N.Y. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Walter W. Powers

Walter W. Powers, 87, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born June 10, 1912, in Norfolk, Va. A resident for 31 years, he was a retired architectural engineer, a World War II Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps veteran, was one of the first Americans to submit a design for the 50-star flag, designed the first statue of the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima and helped design the umbilical tower for the flight to the moon, which carried John Glenn and John Shepherd.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; two daughters, Joyce Collins of Miami and Paulette Kennedy of Richardson, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Willie Mae Washington

Willie Mae Washington, 56, of Las Vegas died Oct. 29, in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 22, 1943, in Morton, Miss. A resident for two months, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Lonell; six sons, Ronald E. Williams, Donald R. Williams, Cardell D. Washington, Kevin G. Washington, Amondo T. Washington and Marcus J. Washington, and seven daughters, Jewell Washington, Diana L. Washington, Yolanda K. Washington, Emily A. Washington, Crystal J. Washington, Agnes L. Washington and Anngell R. Washington, all of Las Vegas; and 18 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. today in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North, North Las Vegas. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Victory Baptist Church, 500 W. Monroe Ave. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
