Casino revenue on coast up slightly for September

That compares with the $88.4 million they won in September 1999.

"I'm surprised there was no growth," said Bill Kilduff, general manager of for the Isle of Capri Casino Crowne Plaza Resort in Biloxi. "That's pretty darn flat. Flatter than a pancake."

The Isle's share of the overall casino market was higher than it was in August, Kilduff said, largely because the hotel had nearly 100 percent occupancy for the month.

Casino revenue statewide for September was $216.8 million, about $9 million more than the 30 state-regulated casinos won in the same month last year.

Coast casinos so far this year have won $854.1 million. The casinos last year won $784.2 million for the same period.

Most of the revenue growth occurred during the first three months of the year.

Casino executives said the slight increase in revenue since March was the result of higher increased marketing and advertising costs that cut into profit margins and do not reflect a natural growth in business.
