Brian Atkins

Brian Atkins, 29, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 9, 1974, in Lakeland, Fla. A resident for 14 years, he was a mechanic in the bowling industry.

He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Gerry Atkins, and one brother, Thomas Atkins II, all of Nevada; and his grandparents, Robert and Cecelia DeLong of Florida and Joseph and Eleanor Atkins of New Jersey.

Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Terry D. Barton

Terry D. Barton, 51, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 9, 1952, in Ohio. A resident for many years, he worked in quality assurance in shipping and receiving.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; and his parents, Houston and Beulah Barton of Ohio.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Cincinnati. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Ronald J. Bates

Ronald J. Bates, 57, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born April 19, 1946, in Farmville, N.C. A resident for 53 years, he was a dealer and had attended Bishop Gorman High School.

He is survived by one daughter, Shannon of Sacramento; two sons, Eric Bates of California and Jamie Bates of Las Vegas; his stepfather, James Pomeroy, and one brother, Gary Bates, both of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 9 .m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Main.

Vickie Brown

Vickie Brown, 49, of Henderson died Friday in Henderson. She was born July 6, 1954, in Michigan. A resident for three years, she was a dispatcher/criminalist for the state of Michigan.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Jr.; one son, Jason Lorenz of Michigan; one stepdaughter, Andrea Brown, and one stepson, Ryan Brown, both of Tennessee; one brother, Gary Wirick of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Ferrel D. Cunagin

Ferrel D. Cunagin, 78, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 23, 1924, in Jackson County, Ky. A resident for 13 years, he was a retired supervisor for an automobile manufacturer and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; one daughter, Teresa Cox of Tecumseh, Okla.; one son, Gary Cunagin of Dayton, Ohio; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Steven E. Dingman

Steven E. Dingman, 55, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 2, 1948, in Topeka, Kan. A resident for 20 years, he was a cabdriver.

He is survived by one son, Douglas Dingman of Gloucester, Va.; and two sisters, Linda Butler of Springfield, Mo., and Connie Sickle of Albia, Iowa.

Catherine M. Dunning

Catherine M. Dunning, 84, of Henderson died Friday in Boulder City. She was born April 28, 1919, in Trenton, N.J. A resident for 25 years, she was a retired General Motors assembly worker.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Buckland of Henderson; one grandchild; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be noon Saturday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home.

Travis James Dunning

Travis James Dunning, 15, of Henderson died Monday. He was born Jan. 15, 1988, in Las Vegas. He was a student at Green Valley High School.

He is survived by his parents, Susan and James W. Dunning, and one sister, Tara Marie Dunning, all of Henderson; and his grandparents, Mariam and Joseph D'Ambrosio of Henderson and Mary Louise Dunning of Villa Park, Ill.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Shizel Aidaly Espino

Shizel Aidaly Espino, 12, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 4, 1990, in San Luis, Mexico. A resident for six months, she was a seventh-grade student at Courtney Middle School.

She is survived by her parents, Veronica and Franklin Espino, and three sisters, Chantal Espino, Sizly Espino and Karen Espino, all of Henderson; one brother, Joske Espino of Modesto, Calif.; and her grandparents, Feliciano and Imelda Espino of Modesto and Eleno and Rosalba Meza of San Luis.

Visitation is scheduled 1 p.m. today until 10 a.m. Thursday at 1509 Palm St., Henderson. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Thursday in Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 5485 E. Charleston Blvd., Las Vegas.

Lauren Frumes

Lauren Frumes, 75, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born June 12, 1928, in Duluth, Minn. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired insurance salesman and a Korean War Army veteran.

She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Frumes of Los Angeles; one son, Cary Frumes of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three brothers, Larry Frumes of San Pedro, Calif., Melvin Frumes of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Lester Ostrow of Beverly Hills, Calif.; one sister, Reva Tift of Boulder, Colo.; and one grandchild.

Services will be noon Friday in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Vail Elton Howard

Vail Elton Howard, 83, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local health care center. He was born Dec. 12, 1919, in Corvallis, Ore. A resident for 15 years, he was a firefighter, a World War II Army veteran, a member of the Shriners and Scottish Rite and was a 33rd-degree Mason.

He was preceded in death by one son, Steven Howard.

He is survived by two daughters, Virginia Stahly of Las Vegas and Carole Howard of North Las Vegas; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Boulder City Family Mortuary, 833 Nevada Way, Suite 1. Services will be noon Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Melvin M. Linsk

Melvin M. Linsk, 69, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born April 6, 1934, in Philadelphia. A resident for six years, he was a retired auto salesman and a Korean War Navy veteran.

He is survived by two sons, Wayne D. Linsk of Philadelphia and Howard Linsk of North Las Vegas; two brothers, Michael Linsk of Las Vegas and Edward Linsk of Philadelphia.

Graveside services were scheduled at 2:30 p.m. today in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Linda Joyce Luckie

Linda Joyce Luckie, 52, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 16, 1950, in Los Angeles. A resident for 26 years, she was a licensed officer II in child care.

She is survived by one daughter, Shawishi Christmas of Denver; her mother, Gladys Luckie of Nevada; three sisters, Marsha Hicks, Zola Luckie and Anita Luckie, all of California.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Thursday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Victory Missionary Baptist Church, 500 W. Monroe Ave. Burial will be in Los Angeles.

Jean E. McCune

Jean E. McCune, 78, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 23, 1925, Pennsylvania. A resident for 40 years, she was a secretary at small claims court.

She is survived by one brother, William Strang of Belle Vernon, Pa.

Fabian S. Morejon

Fabian S. Morejon, 73, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local health care center. He was born Jan. 20, 1930, in Cuba. A resident for eight years, he was a farm laborer.

He is survived by two daughters, Mayda Morejon of Las Vegas and Norma Morejon of Cuba; one son, Bruno Morejon of Las Vegas; four sisters, Carmela, Silvia, Lazara and Milagros, and three brothers, Tomas, Armando and Alberto, all of Cuba; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Charles Newsome

Charles Newsome, 75, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 2, 1928, in Ashland, Ky. A resident for 41 years, he was a retired owner-operator of a pipeline construction company.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; two daughters, Debbie Newsome and Kim Kaempfer, both of Las Vegas; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

William Plummer

William Plummer, 67, of Las Vegas died Nov. 5 in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 2, 1936, in Baltimore. A resident for 30 years, he was a hotel musician.

He is survived by two brothers, David Mullins of Edgewood, Md., and John Plummer of Delaware; and three sisters, Helen Taylor and Mary Starr, both of Maryland, and Wanda Plummer of Florida.

Burial will be in Maryland. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Erma O. Powell

Erma O. Powell, 86, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. She was born Aug. 19, 1917, in Port Huron, Mich. A resident for 23 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Sue Van Luven of Las Vegas and Diane Powell of Galena, Ill.; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday in the First Presbyterian Church, 1515 W. Charleston Blvd. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

John R. Reid

John R. Reid, 78, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 11, 1924, in West Liberty, Iowa. A resident for 14 years, he was a retired retail store manager, a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the Masons in Spokane, Wash.

He is survived by his wife, R. Juanita; and one sister, Bernece Tesch of Fairfield Bay, Ark.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Vilma 'Moe' Salak

Vilma "Moe" Salak, 91, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 8, 1912, in Chicago. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired electronics assembler.

She is survived by three sons, Ervin Salak of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Claude Salak of Las Vegas and Milo Salak of Westmont, Ill.

Joseph Snaiar

Joseph Snaiar, 84, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 22, 1919, in Detroit. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired federal government contracting administrator and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Genevieve; one daughter, Pamela Darcey of Las Vegas; one sister, Eleanor Limb of Michigan; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Samuel S. Todd

Samuel S. Todd, 76, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospital. He was born March 31, 1927, in Waco, Texas. A resident for seven years, he was a retired Navy chief warrant officer and World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veteran, a member of the Masons, Eastern Star and Shriners.

He is survived by one daughter, Janis L. Johnson of Carson City; one son, Spencer D. Todd of Penn Valley, Calif.; one brother, Alvin Todd of Texas; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She is survived by one son, Larry Willson, and one daughter, Jackie Willson, both of Las Vegas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
