The Henderson Senior Center is hosting its annual Thanksgiving Luncheon Nov. 25 — an event organizers expect to draw between 200 and 250 people.

"We've seen an increase in the amount of people served because of the inexpensive nature of the meal," recreation program coordinator Michele Leavitt said.

Open to individuals of all ages, the meals will be served in three settings — 11 to 11:45 a.m., noon to 12:45 p.m. and 1 to 1:45 p.m. Advance registration is encouraged at the Senior Center or at cityofhenderson.com. Drop-ins will be served at the third seating, if enough food is available.

Meals are provided for a suggested donation of $1.50 for those 60 and over and $3 for others.

"We offer a lot of food for a very small amount of money," Leavitt said. "Most of the people that come here are regular clients of the Senior Center. It's kind of an opportunity to spend time with friends."

However, she said the meal has also proven popular with those who do not have family in town.

"This is the only Thanksgiving meal they're going to get," Leavitt said. "They won't cook a big meal for themselves."
