Clark County School District police today arrested a 16-year-old high school student who was carrying a handgun.
Capt. Jim Ketsaa said the boy was arrested this morning at Cimarron-Memorial High School, at 2301 N. Tenaya Way, south of Smoke Ranch Road, carrying an unloaded .357-magnum handgun.
The student was taken to the county Juvenile Detention Center and faces four charges, including carrying an unregistered firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, a minor in possession of a firearm and possession of a dangerous weapon on school property.
The school district has "zero" tolerance of handguns on campus property, Ketsaa said. An unloaded gun can be loaded and pose a threat, he said.
