Medicare sure beats private insurance

Regarding the Monday letters to the editor by Cathy Sutter and Shawn Preston against government-run universal health care, I wondered what the problem is. I was on private medical insurance for years, and it was both very expensive and very restrictive.

Now I’ve been on Medicare for two years, and have had no problems whatsoever, whether it is with a simple doctor’s visit or significant surgery. Folks, the government does run various health care programs, and does it at least as good as private insurers do, and at a much lower cost to me.
