Police seek help identifying owners of recovered art

North Las Vegas Police are searching for the owners of 14 paintings and two bronze statues found during an investigation of a neighborhood disturbance.

Officers on Tuesday were investigating a report of a disturbance at 2237 Bassler St. Officers with the department's Problem Solving Unit learned about stolen property that had been stored in the apartment.

After obtaining a search warrant, officers recovered several stolen items.

The items included stolen weapons, stolen electronics, bronze statues and paintings. Most of the property has been returned to owners who had been victims of residential burglaries, police said.

The paintings and statues have not been claimed, police said. The paintings include one of Marilyn Monroe, another of Frank Sinatra and an autographed picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger among several others.

Sometimes burglary victims do not come forward or they do not even realize something is missing if burglars take items from a storage unit, police said. The North Las Vegas Police Department is hoping that someone recognizes the paintings and can provide proof of ownership.

Anyone with further information about this crime can contact the North Las Vegas Police Department at (702) 633-9111, or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
