A 24-year-old Henderson man has died from injuries he suffered while being thrown from his motorcycle after striking a palm tree, the Henderson Police Department said this morning.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified him as Matthew Martin Sneck.

Investigators said Sneck was riding his 2002 Kawasaki ZX-12 at a high rate of speed at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in an area west of Lake Mead Parkway and south of Desert Wetlands Park. Sneck was southbound on Olivia Parkway, near its intersection with Via Palermo drive, when he struck a curb, lost control and struck the tree, police said.

Sneck, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle after the collision, authorities said. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Speed was a factor in the crash and a toxicology test will be conducted to determine whether drugs or alcohol might have been factors, authorities said. A cause and manner of death hasn’t yet been released by the coroner.

This is the sixth fatal accident in Henderson this year.
