Neighbors return after chemicals taken from house

Chemicals removed

Police cleared residents to return to a northwest Las Vegas neighborhood that was partially evacuated overnight while local and federal authorities removed chemicals found in a house.

No injuries are reported after authorities spent more than 19 hours at the home on Adornment Court, near Buffalo Drive and Farm Road.

Las Vegas police Officer Barbara Morgan says authorities went to the house about 11:30 a.m. Thursday to check the welfare of residents and investigate a report of a suspicious substance. She says the area was cleared about 7 a.m. Friday.

Neighbors were asked to leave overnight while authorities removed the chemicals, which officials have not identified.

FBI Agent David Staretz describes them as commercially available chemicals, and says they were destroyed in the desert.
