Road, sewer work along Mountain Vista nears completion

Sewer pipeline upgrades along Mountain Vista Street near Flamingo Road are wrapping up, and crews from the Clark County Water Reclamation District are beginning to put the road back together.

Paving and lane restoration is taking place around Rochelle Avenue and Mountain Vista Street, with paving occurring northbound on Mountain Vista Street toward Flamingo Road. The work should be completed by April 10, the water district said.

Repaving and lane striping will then occur on Mountain Vista Street, north of Flamingo Road toward Twain Avenue. The water district said it will likely take a month to complete.

Paving on Flamingo Road from Nellis Boulevard to Cabana Drive will begin April 13 and should be completed by the end of the month, the water district said.

Travel lanes will be closed 24 hours a day, and crews will institute noise and odor control measures.

"We understand that this roadwork may be an inconvenience to people who live and travel in the area. However, this project, which is now in its final phase, is a critical upgrade to our sewer system to prevent serious problems, such as a pipe break or collapse," said Sam Scire, assistant general manager for the water district, in a statement.

Motorists can expect the following 24-hour traffic impacts:

  • April 1 through April 10, one northbound lane on Mountain Vista Street will be closed from Rochelle Avenue to Flamingo Road.
  • April 15 through May 15, one northbound lane on Mountain Vista Street will be closed from Flamingo Road to Twain Avenue.
  • April 13 through April 30, multiple, shifting lane closures will occur on Flamingo Road.
