A coroner’s inquest into the police shooting death of Charles Bradley Campbell inside a hospital emergency room last month has been scheduled for 9 a.m. April 24 at the Regional Justice Center.

Campbell, 48, was shot by two Henderson police officers March 13 after he walked into the emergency room at St. Rose Dominican Hospitals-Siena Campus with a gun about 1 a.m. and threatened to kill himself.

Officers John Bozarth, 37, a three-year veteran of the Henderson force, and Randy Dotson, 36, a four-year veteran, confronted him and when Campbell pointed his weapon at the officers, they shot him, Henderson police said.

Hospital personnel treated Campbell, but he died at the scene.

At the inquest, the district attorney’s office will present evidence to a jury to determine whether the shooting was justified, accidental or excusable.

Family members are allowed to pose questions to officers and other witnesses in writing through the district attorney’s office.

Attempts to reach family members to see if they intend to do so were not successful.
