Temperatures to climb into the mid 80s

Blustery winds and chance of rain return next week

After a high temperature near 85 degrees today, blustery winds and a chance of showers are expected to return to the Las Vegas Valley for the next week.

This will be the warmest day of the week, bringing strong winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph this afternoon into this evening, the National Weather Service said.

The winds mixing the air will keep the low around 60 degrees tonight.

The weather service issued a wind advisory from noon to 8 p.m. today for the area in the Lower Colorado River Basin.

On Wednesday's skies will see more clouds and the temperature will be 10 to 15 degrees below normal, ranging from the mid 60s to 70 degrees throughtout the valley, the weather service said.

As the first round of winds and clouds leave, Thursday will warm to the lower to mid 70s. Then another storm system moves into the Great Basin and Las Vegas on Friday and Saturday, the weather service said. That storm system could produce isolated showers, with most rainfall staying in the mountains. The weather service said a thunderstorm might develop on Friday afternoon.

Temperatures are expected to remain in the 70s during the weekend with another round of winds and clouds arriving Sunday into Monday.
