Library to host talk with a park ranger

The Boulder City Library April 14 at 7 p.m. will host a "Second Tuesday with a Park Ranger" talk at the library, 701 Adams Boulevard.

Rangers from Lake Mead National Recreation Area will discuss invasive zebra mussels in Lake Mead.

They'll discuss the cost of trying to eradicate the mussel invasion and the mussels' impact on the ecosystem and recreational boaters.

GOP women to host police officer for talk

Boulder City Republican Women will host police officer Michael Barth at its meeting at the Railroad Pass Hotel. The meeting is 11:30 a.m. April 16.

Barth, who received the police Medal of Valor, is a retired Chief Petty Officer with the U.S. Coast Guard, where he served for 21 years.

He will talk about his law enforcement service and his part-time work with the Southern Nevada Counter-Terrorism Center.

BC Facts meeting to focus on campaign

A BC Facts community discussion at the library will focus on the four candidates who will appear on the July general election ballot for two City Council seats.

The meeting is April 13 at 7 p.m. in the Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd.

Richard McHale, who leads the meetings, said anyone is invited to participate.

"By digging into the facts we become educated, and by educating ourselves we become wise. Let us hope wisdom guides our need for positive change," McHale said in an e-mail.

Kindergarten registration is April 15

Andrew J Mitchell Elementary School is registering incoming kindergarten students April 15 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school, 900 Avenue B.

Kindergarten students must be 5 by Sept. 30.

Registering adults should bring the student's original birth certificate, immunization record, proof of residency and parent or guardian identification.

All-day, tuition-based kindergarten is available.

Reading Room to hold open house

The Boulder City Christian Science Reading Room is hosting an open house from April 16-19 at 1400 Wyoming St., Suite 1.

On April 16 and 17, the store will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

On April 18, it will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and April 19, from noon to 4 p.m.

The ready room is a retail outlet for the Christian Science Publishing Society, which publishes the Christian Science Monitor.

BCHS Class of 1979 to host reunion

Boulder City High School's graduating class of 1979 will host its 30 year reunion July 3 and 4 in Boulder City.

Classmates are invited to meet July 3 at 5 p.m. in Boulder Dam Brewing Co., 453 Nevada Way.
