Boulder City deaths

Ralph E. Duddridge

Ralph E. Duddridge, 73, of Boulder City died March 25. He was born April 16, 1935, in Willow Springs, Mo., to Harold and Irene Duddridge.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Aggie, of 55 years; three children, Edward, Raymond, and Carrie; five grandchildren, Kevin, Jennifer, Todd, Nicholas, and Cody; three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ty, and Ethan; and his sister, Barbara.

No services are scheduled.

Boulder City Family Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Sandra Grabber

Sandra Ann "Sandy" Grabber, 50, of Boulder City, passed away April 1 in Boulder City. She was born Jan. 20, 1959, in Bridgeport, Conn.

Sandy was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

She is survived by her father, Frederick Robert Grabber; brother, Robert Eugene Grabber; sister, Pamela Jean Hadden; nieces, Christine J. Flowers and Michelle J. Hadden; nephew, David C. Hadden III; great-nephew, Matthew C. Flowers; and niece, Natilie Flowers.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Gary W. Grabber.

Private services were held April 7 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.

Arrangements handled by Boulder City Family Mortuary.

Helen Frasier

Helen Ruth Frasier, longtime companion of John (Jack) Knowlson of Boulder City, died March 31. She was 71.

Helen was born Dec. 18, 1937 in Waterford, N.Y.

Helen was a homemaker. She had lived in Boulder City for 16 years and she had previously resided in upstate New York for many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Shari Werndli of Boulder City; Shari's fiancé Candelario (Cande) Penna Valdes of Las Vegas; son Jay and daughter-in-law Terri Paff of Anchorage, Alaska; John's daughter Holly Knowlson of Boulder City; brother, David Coonradt of New York; several nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Coonradt.

A memorial service was held April 7 at Boulder City Family Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boulder City Animal Control, 810 Yucca St., Boulder City, NV, 89005. Boulder City Family Mortuary handled the arrangements.

William Phillips

Services for William Grant Phillips, 59, of Las Vegas, have been set for 1 p.m. April 18 at Palm Mortuary, 6701 N. Jones Blvd. Las Vegas.

Phillips died Oct. 18, 2008, in an airplane crash, in Parowan, Utah.

He was born July 7, 1949, in Boulder City to William and Shirley Phillips.

He graduated from Boulder City High School in 1967 and from UNLV with a bachelor's degree in physics in 1971. He earned a masters of science degree in physics from UNLV in 1973.

Bill was employed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and in 1974 he received the EPA Bronze Medal for his outstanding service in a joint government industry. In 1987, the EPA sent him to the University of Washington, Seattle, where he earned a second master's degree in health physics.

He became a board-certified health physicist to study the nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain. He was retired from the EPA.

He was an experienced airline transport pilot and passionate about flying. His fascination with airplanes started when he was 10 years old. He held 10 licenses to fly various aircraft. Bill married Janice Lanuti Dec. 24, 1987. He was brilliant, talented, and had a great sense of humor. He was also an artist and a pianist.

Bill is survived by his wife, Janice; his mother, Shirley Phillips of Boulder City; and his brother, Robert Phillips and his wife, Lynn.

Helena Wojsznarowicz

Helena (Helen) Mary Wojsznarowicz, 86, of the Wyoming State Hospital in Evanston, died April 1 at Evanston Regional Hospital.

She was born Dec. 2, 1923, to Jozef and Honorata Paterak, of Ostrowy, Kolbuszowa, East of Krakow Poland, near the Ukraine border. She was a Polish Catholic Holocaust survivor of the Adolf Blum Camp. Her future husband Franciszek, displaced from his village in Oszmiana, between Vilno and Minsk, Poland, now Belarus, Russia, met Helen in a displaced persons camp in Germany, and they immigrated to the U.S. by ship in October 1951 seeking the American dream.

They arrived, with two small children, Stanley and Jozef, in New Orleans, and moved to Sheridan, Wyo., to work in his meat-packing business. The plant in Sheridan burned down so they moved to Casper.

They had three more children, Anthony (Tony), John, and Nelda. Helen made her permanent home at the State Hospital from 1962 until her death. She enjoyed the hospital outings, beautiful things, and was known for her sense of humor and love of her family.

She is survived by children Stan of Casper, Wyo., Tony of Silver City, N.M., John of Boulder City, Nelda of Denver; and grandchildren, Jayne and Alex Wojsznarowicz of Tucson, Ariz.

Cremation will take place under the direction of Crandall Funeral Home and her ashes will be placed with her husband and son in Highland Cemetery in Casper, her family cemetery in Poland, and with American Polish friends, Tony and Aline Kawulok in Boulder, Colo. There will be a memorial April 7 at Evanston State Hospital.

Donations may be made to the Wyoming State Hospital or Uinta Home Health and Hospice in Evanston.
