Henderson deaths

Ralph E. Duddridge

Ralph E. Duddridge, 73, of Boulder City died March 25. He was born April 16, 1935, in Willow Springs, Mo., to Harold and Irene Duddridge.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Aggie, of 55 years; three children, Edward, Raymond, and Carrie; five grandchildren, Kevin, Jennifer, Todd, Nicholas, and Cody; three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ty, and Ethan; and his sister, Barbara.

No services are scheduled.

Boulder City Family Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Larry Gilbert

Larry K. Gilbert, 67, of Henderson, passed away March 19.

Larry was a 23-year resident of Henderson.

Larry was a job developer, helping to find employment for handicapped workers, and he was a certified trauma counselor who volunteered with Green Cross after the 911 tragedy in New York to counsel victims and their families. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He served a church mission in Argentina, and was fluent in Spanish.

Larry was known as a kind and wise friend and counselor, who was generous with his time and made friends wherever he went.

He is survived by his wife, Susan, and three sisters, as well as a son and five daughters, and a stepdaughter and two stepsons and eight grandchildren.

Services were held March 24 at the LDS Desert Rose Chapel in Henderson. He was buried in Ephraim, Utah. Donations can be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice.

Sandra Grabber

Sandra Ann "Sandy" Grabber, 50, of Boulder City, passed away April 1 in Boulder City. She was born Jan. 20, 1959, in Bridgeport, Conn.

Sandy was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

She is survived by her father, Frederick Robert Grabber; brother, Robert Eugene Grabber; sister, Pamela Jean Hadden; nieces, Christine J. Flowers and Michelle J. Hadden; nephew, David C. Hadden III; great-nephew, Matthew C. Flowers; and niece, Natilie Flowers.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Gary W. Grabber.

Private services were held April 7 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.

Horace Mooring

Horace Hutton Mooring, a former Henderson teacher, died March 29 in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

Born April 18, 1922, in Leechville , Ark., he taught more than 20 years at Henderson Junior High School as a business typing teacher. He served as lieutenant in U.S. Army during World War II under General Patton.

He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing and bowling with the Henderson Junior High teachers. He was a member of the Grace Community Church in Boulder City.

Horace retired from Clark County School District in 1974 and moved to Mexico.

He is survived by son Gregory Lynn Mooring and his wife, Pauline, of Page, Ariz., and grandchildren Janna Lyn and Tyler Lyn Mooring; brother Wyatt Harold Mooring of Georgia; as well as three stepchildren, another eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by siblings Aubrey, Virginia, Genevieve, and Imagine.

Robert Swadell

Services for Robert Swadell, a longtime Henderson resident for whom the city's justice center is named, will be held 11 a.m. April 19 at the Henderson Convention Center, 200 S. Water St.

Swadell died March 15 in Pahrump.

A retired Army lieutenant colonel, Swadell had a military career that included assignments with the CIA, where he also worked as a civilian after retirement, and tours in Korea and Vietnam. He specialized in radar, secure communications and electronic warfare.

He and his wife, Mary, moved to Henderson in 1975, where he became involved in the community, serving as chairman of several committees that planned and oversaw construction of city buildings.

Those buildings included the Henderson Convention Center in 1979, Henderson City Hall in 1987, Emergency Services Facility for the Police and Fire departments in 1991, the justice facility that was named for him in 1993 and the animal shelter in 1994.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary of Pahrump; sister Mary Rose Shelton and her husband, George; sisters-in-law Loyd Beth and Joice; nieces Karen, Debbie, Laura and Sally; nephews Steven, Carl Eric, David, Mark and Eric; and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers Carl and Eric.
