Boulder City High senior Alex Dillon took second in a pair of field events April 1 to the help Eagles' track team score 33 points in a tri-meet hosted by Basic.

Basic won the meet with 83 points and Green Valley High was second with 74.

Dillon jumped 13 feet in the pole vault and leaped 5 feet, 10 inches in the high jump. Dillon's highest pole vault score was 13-2 last year — a mark coach Joe Ringen said he feels Dillon will surpass this spring.

"He is really coming along. He is looking really good," Ringen said.

Sophomore Joseph Woodbury also scored points for Boulder City, finishing third in the 110 hurdles at 18.4 seconds and third in the 300 hurdles at 47.3.

"Woodbury is a first-year guy," Ringen said. "He is learning the ropes."

Junior Matt Lundgren won the 3,200 in 10 minutes, 39 seconds and was third in the 1,600 at 4:53. It was the first competition for Lundgren, the defending state champion in the both long distance events, this year. He was out with a throat infection, Ringen said.

"It is good to have him back," the coach said.

Boulder City also took third in the girls portion of the meet.

Swimmers have good showing

Boulder City High's Drew Peterson recorded the most points of any sophomore on April 4 during the Freshman-Sophomore Meet at Henderson's Multigenerational Pool.

Boulder City sent 12 swimmers to the meet, which featured Sunrise Region schools and did not keep team points. Peterson won all three events he participated in — the 200 freestyle, 100 free and 50 flutter kick. The flutter kick is not part of high school meet but was part of this unique competition.

Boulder City coach Sara Carroll said it was good to see some of the program's younger performers excel. The Eagles have a senior-heavy roster, meaning the younger swimmers will be key contributors in years to come.

"We are going to take a big hit when those kids graduate," Carroll said of her seniors. "It is encouraging that some of the newcomers are doing so well and coming along."

Freshman Cody Molisee won the 50 freestyle for Boulder City while the Eagles' Dylan Bunch, Hunter Bunch and Shelby Gebhart each placed in the top three in points, Carroll said.
