Letter to the editor:

Fox News Channel is not telling you like it is

A month ago Debbie Evans, in a letter to the editor of the Las Vegas Sun, stated that for people to know what is really happening in government, one has to watch the Fox News Channel. She said that if people keep believing what mainstream media are reporting, they would never know the truth. She stated that if people watched Fox for two weeks, they would realize that Fox News is the only news organization that is “fair and balanced” and “will tell you like it is.”

Well, I decided to verify the truth of her statement, going her one better. I watched Fox for a whole month. What I saw was what I had seen all along while watching the channel from time to time. I watched the snarky and hateful Sean Hannity repeatedly, on every show, demonstrate how much he detests anything coming from President Barack Obama or that is remotely Democratic.

I watched the hilariously hysterical Glenn Beck obsess over his thoughts that Obama is driving the country into “socialism” and is going to take away your guns. I used to think Bill O’Reilly was the biggest blowhard on cable TV, but I have come to realize that he is a lightweight compared with Hannity and Beck. And then there are the three dolts who call themselves “Fox and Friends” every morning.

With the notable exception of Shepard Smith, who did such outstanding work during Hurricane Katrina and has a straightforward and informative evening show, the Fox News staff, from Brit Hume on down, are in my opinion a collective shill for the Republican Party and should be recognized as such.
