Scattered showers moving into Las Vegas area

Sunny skies expected Sunday

Dust off your umbrella -- there's a chance for scattered showers today through Saturday in the Las Vegas Valley.

The National Weather Service says showers will develop today, mainly over the mountains of eastern California and southern Nevada, as an area of low pressure approaches the southern California coast.

The weather service said as the low pressure area moves east, the chance for showers increases in eastern California, southeast Nevada and northwest Arizona.

Forecasters say the chance for showers for the Las Vegas Valley is 20 percent after noon today and 50 percent tonight.

The chance for scattered showers decreases to 30 percent Saturday in southern Nevada, the weather service said.

Today's high temperature will reach 73 degrees with winds from the south between 7 and 13 mph, gusting to 18 mph, according to forecasters.

They expect tonight's low temperature to fall to to 51 degrees.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy, with the high reaching only 68 degrees and winds from the west-northwest 5 to 8 mph, becoming south-southeast. Saturday night's low will fall to around 52 degrees.

Sunday will bring mostly sunny skies, with a high near 77 degrees and winds form the northeast at 7 mph. Sunday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 55 degrees.
