Individual licenses, Mesquite slot parlor get Control Board nod

The state Gaming Control Board has recommended several individual gaming licenses in a light agenda April 1.

The board also recommended the approval of a slot-machines-only license for a casino in Mesquite and dates for rural horse-racing events.

The recommendations will be considered by the Nevada Gaming Commission on April 16.

In unanimous votes, the board recommended licenses for William Boasberg, vice president and chief financial officer of the Mirage as an officer; Ryoichi Kimura, chief administration officer and vice president of the Las Vegas office of Konami Gaming, as a key employee; and Reno Mayor Bob Cashell as a director for the Bonanza Casino in that city.

The board also recommended licenses for 75 slot machines at the Stateline Casino in Mesquite. Kent and Kurt Slight are executives, directors and shareholders of the property.

The board also gave nods to annual requests for horse-racing dates in three rural counties. Board members recommended approval of a request from the Winnemucca Convention and Visitors Authority for May 30 and 31; from the Elko County Fair Board for Aug. 28-30 and Sept. 4-7; and from Agriculture District No. 13 in Ely for Aug. 22 and 23.
