Motorcyclist killed

A motorcyclist who died Thursday afternoon in a crash in eastern Las Vegas has been identified as Cory Allen Ice, 21, of Las Vegas.

Ice was pronounced dead at Sunrise Trauma Center after his motorcycle slide into the right side of an SUV at Sandhill and Desert Inn roads just after noon Thursday, Metro Police said.

Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated the accident occurred as Mabel Arman, 44, Las Vegas, was driving a 2002 Isuzu Rodeo SUV north on Sandhill Road, in the left two-way turning lane north of Desert Inn Road, while the motorcycle, a 2007 Kawasaki, was headed south on Sandhill Road, in the left travel lane, police said.

Police said the SUV turned left into the Plaza Desert Inn parking lot in front of the motorcycle. The motorcyclist lost control and slid into the right side of the SUV, police said. Ice was ejected and came to rest in the right southbound travel lane of Sandhill Road, police said.

It was the 22nd traffic-related fatality this year in Metro’s jurisdiction.
